Return To Player (RTP)

What is RTP?

Return To Player (RTP) is the foundation of game design for games of chance. A measure of performance calculated over millions or billions of spins, a game with a 97% RTP rating is mathematically designed to return 0.97 of every 1 credit spent over a length of time.

Take Play'n GO's iconic slot, Book of Dead, as an example. Originally found in one version only, online casinos in 2024 now operate a 96.21%, 94.25%, 91.25%, 87.25% or 84.18% RTP version. Respectively, each model will average a return of 0.9621, 0.9425, 0.9125, 0.8725, and 0.8418 credits for every credit staked.

The lower the RTP rating, the more profit for casinos, and vice versa. Lower RTP versions of a title may have fewer wins of a certain range, a lower hit frequency, or less win potential. One thing is for certain - you can expect less payback from lower RTP by comparison over time.
